Hurricane Patricia hit Mexico’s coast on Friday night, bringing a downpour of rain, surging tides, and fast brewing winds across the country, especially along the residential areas along the coast. The hurricane has since weakened substantially, but the main concern for many Mexicans is the landslides, flash floods, and damaged homes. The National Hurricane centre reported that as the hurricane moved inland, it lost the coastal power and has weakened significantly lessening the overall threat to civilians.

South Africa freezes tuition hikes after massive and repeated protests.

Students at some of South Africa’s most prominent universities have been protesting their rising tuition fees. Protesters shut down the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, and occupied buildings at Stellenbosch University and the University of Cape Town. Protesters extended their rally to social media, occupying hashtags like #feesmustfall. Merely two days after the protests and confrontations, South African President Jacob Zuma announced that the tuition hike for 2016 will no longer be happening. The protesters hashtags then changed to #feeshavefallen.

Possible alteration of CISA creates more controversy. 

The CISA stands for Cybersecurity Information Security Act, a proposed law in the United States.Though the bill already had controversy regarding privacy infringement, a possible edit would allow the power to extend to affairs out of the country.However, many are in disagreement due to the extensive power the State would acquire.

Scottish Women claims to smell Parkinson’s Disease.

Joy Milne lost her husband to Parkinson’s Disease, a neurological disorder with an unknown cause. She claims before his death, she was able to notice a difference in his scent. Edinburgh University heard this claim and performed tests which resulted in a perfect score. With this newly acquired information, there is hope that we can diagnose this disease in its early stages, before it continues to cripple massive amounts of individuals.

U.S. respond to UN remarks regarding national relations to Cuba.

Due to the trade ban between the U.S. and Cuba during the cold war, there is conversation regarding releasing past contempt in the interests of both countries. Though both countries are willing to find consensus in their long-time argument, the U.S. seeks to change the UN draft of their resolution. This is due to their belief that it does not accurately represent their attempts at fixing the national relationship.
