On 18 March, 2016, a FlyDubai plane crashed in a Russian airport, immediately killing all on board. According to an aviation tracking website, due to air traffic, the FlyDubai pilots put the landing on hold, circling for two hours over the city. However, potentially due to a potential strong gust of air, the plane plummeted during the landing attempt, resulting in the passing of all 55 passengers. These winds were approaching those of a hurricane level according to the governor of that Moscow region. These weather circumstances were unpredictable at high altitudes. However, FlyDubai has had a relatively safe record in the past. There was only one other incident since its conception in 2008.

On March 20, Obama became the first U.S. president to visit Cuba since 1928. This national visit is crucial to a turning point in Cuban-American relations, since the blockade against financial, economic and business activities of Cuba in 1959. Though there are currently some American tourists, the political situation is still unstable. Curtis Kamman, a former head of U.S. interests in Havana, compared the Cuba situation to East Germany. Once America regains a presence on the island, some nostalgia for the revolutionary society would arise. All in all, Obama’s visit is the starting line for a turn-over regarding the relations between the two countries.

An elderly, bed-ridden man suffering from terminal lymphoma has died after receiving permission for assisted death last Thursday. He was in great pain, and his family was glad that he could pass with dignity. “It was his life and his choice,” said a close family member. The family told reporters that the only thing they would regret is the court battle; and if someone would like to die in a dignified way they should be able to choose.
