June 5th 2012 was a day that will go down in astronomical history.
Venus passed directly through the Sun and Earth. This phenomenon was able to be viewed with the help of telescopes and solar filters (to protect your eyes from getting severely damaged). These transits of Venus will occur in pairs, and the last one occurred in December 2004. However, the next one will not occur for another 105 years.
Mr. van Bemmel, and Mr. Lang set up telescopes to allow students of MGCI to view this incredible occurrence. Over 50 students were able to view this event due to their efforts.
