Key Clubbers from all over the GTA attended the annual Division Leadership Training Conference (DLTC) held on 27 September from 5 pm to 9 pm at Upper Canada College. Some met new friends, some saw old friends, but all learned more about the organization that brought them together.

Students from Upper Canada College, A.Y. Jackson SS, Martingrove CI, and many other schools from Division 5 went to DLTC. Some Key Clubbers also came from places like Kitchener and Ottawa. Garneau’s Key Club took 35 members to DLTC, making them the largest chapter in attendance. After welcomes, introductions, and icebreakers, the Key Clubbers dined then headed to the highlight of the evening: the workshops. Everyone attended three workshops each, ranging from topics like “How to Make Meetings Fun” to learning about the Eliminate Project. The workshops were run by members of the Eastern Canada District Board as well as Key Club executives from Marc Garneau.

Grade 9 student Jessica Fung tells us “I had a great time meeting new people and learning more about Key Club, the Eliminate Project, and the many events held by Key Club to raise money for charity.”

After the workshops, tickets were raffled off for prizes such as Starbucks gift cards. Over the course of the evening, a grand total of $400.01 was raised with all proceeds being donated to the Eliminate Project. The closing ceremony dismissed DTLC.

“I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm, passion, and curiosity of those in attendance. Although I am going into my fourth year as a Key Clubber, the motivation I get after a Key Club event never fails to amaze me. I’m certainly more than excited for what the 2013-2014 year will bring to the Eastern Canada District of Key Club International!” Annu Puri, Governor of the Eastern Canada District Key Club says.

Mona Adib, co-President of MGCI’s Key Club, had this to say: “I was able to see Key Clubbers that I hadn’t seen for a long time, and I met new ones. This is why I love Key Club so much. It’s the best!”
