This year looks like it will be a good one for the annual MGCI Christmas Show.

It has been happening every year on the last day of class before the holidays. It had never been advertised much in the past, but this year, the walls are covered in surprisingly well-designed posters. Hadia Bilal, Student Council’s spirit convener, has managed to keep the impatient and flighty performers practicing hard after school over the past few weeks to put on what looks like a pretty great show for our school.

The afternoon will begin with a few musical acts, including an emotional rendition of Adele’s“Someone Like You” sung by Vibi Paskaran, and some seasonal favourites like “Last Christmas” sung by Alejandra Garcia and a group of girls singing perhaps the best Christmas song ever to come out of the 90s, “All I Want for Christmas is You”.

And what would a Garneau show be without dancing? This year there are quite a number of talented dancers performing to songs from “Santa Baby” to a “Rolling in the Deep” remix. Our very own Student Council vice-president, Taimoor Hussain will be instructing us on “how to dougie”.

This year’s acts show promise, and students seem to sense it too, as the show is unfortunately now sold out.

For only 2 dollars, you can regain some of the school spirit you have lost from the last crunch before the break, and see some great acts (and watch Student Council make fools of themselves). The lucky ones who got tickets in time are in for quite the afternoon, and it will no doubt be a Christmas Show to remember.
